I'm a little reluctant to talk too much about the billboard photographs because everybody seems to react to them differently. I would like to emphasize that these are actual billboards with their original images. I've done some tweaking of the image, mostly removing type and isolating the image to make it stand out more from its surroundings. The prints are all silver-gelatin, made from black and white film negatives.

I've arranged the thumbnails in roughly chronological order. All of the early work was done in Los Angeles, small format. Later, I ventured to other cities, even spending some time walking around New York City with my 4x5 in hand.
